‘a Nostalgic journey into bollywood glamour’
When a used set turns up in the workshop one day and the plans for the new set arrive the following morning, you know it’s time to make the most of repurposing and reusing used theatre flats to create a vastly different design.
Bombay Superstar had landed.
Working effectively ‘green’ and corporately responsible to green book guidelines takes time and needs experienced craftspeople. The new design was bolder, larger and a visual feast once built and the workshop team managed to incorporate virtually every part of the old set within this new design.
The scenic on the set was transformed from one colour silver glitter to a luxuriant textured finish with golds, turquoise, bronze, ochre and gold ‘eco’ glitter with gold treads and handrails.
We all need to be doing our part on every production and aim to work more sustainable from the choices of paints and bio glitter through to reusing and repurposing old sets.
‘Bombay Superstar’ was a visual feast with costumes of luxuriant silks, dresses that glitter and beautiful embroidery with exciting music, choreography and a wonderful new set design.
