Titanique
Three weeks (nearly) to build a huge set for this fabulous jukebox musical that has had considerable cult success in New York.
A late Friday afternoon phone call from a well known and respected production manager, to ask if we had workshop capacity to build ‘Titanique’, which was to open at London’s Criterion Theatre in December.
We love a challenge and everyone loves a deadline, but this was very tight from the get go - an enormous set of light boxes, treads and handrails. Huge.
Design changes were coming through frequently, with the last change being on the Tuesday before the set loaded out on the Thursday! There’s only so much you can do in scenery construction and scenic finishes with these short timelines, but we did our very best with the changes and alterations with the knowledge that there would be fit-up work to do by our onsite production carpenters.
With the run now extended until June 2025, it’s going to be interesting to see where this set sails to next.
Pre build in the workshop.
