BONNIE & CLYDE

Working alongside an experienced designer, Philip Witcomb, we knew that this set for Bonnie & Clyde was going to be both a great design and would also have some interesting challenges.

One of these was the car - we needed to make a car like the original bearing in mind budget constraints and authenticity. To provide a sustainable solution, we bought a old little Austin that both fitted the theatre and the budget, but we then had to cut it in half to get in it!

Rusty and ruined was the general design style for this set so sourcing vintage props and set pieces, such as a vintage petrol pump, for our scenic team to then age further was a mammoth task.

Sliders were designed with bullet holes, so in our ongoing quest for authenticity, it was decided to create a real gunshot effect and had an expert come along and shoot the walls for us, in a sprayed pattern style, great fun and highly realistic.
